BNB: Where is your happy place?
KM: I have a lot of happy places, in fact I often ask myself if it’s my birthday. I love being in the woods, the ocean, playing, and in my bed.
BNB: Where do you draw inspiration from when you are feeling down?
KM: Trees.
BNB: Describe were you born.
KM: Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz
BNB: What is your creative outlet?
KM: Guitar, mandolin, surfing, skating.
BNB: What is your favorite time of day and why?
KM: I love those early summer mornings when no one’s up, cruise for a cappacino, catch the sunrise, and have a mellow paddle.
BNB: Do you remember you first wave?
KM: I love thinking about my first wave. Cowells Beach with Kevin Miske. It was super small and perfect and I remember having the thought that my life would never be the same after that wave.
BNB: Who is a surf inspiration to you?
KM: I love seeing people getting pumped on the ocean. Big smiles, telling people to drop in, enjoying. Gets me so stoked.
BNB: What is your favorite quote?
KM: Your difference is your power
BNB: If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would it be?
KM: John Muir, by a fire, near the river, in Yosemite.
BNB: What is your opinion on selfies?
KM: I LOVE watching people take selfies. It brings me so much joy. Aw, there they are in the world trying to get the shot, hopefully they eventually nail it and share it. They are so cute in that moment, just wanting to be seen.
